Dialogue and Suspicion: Ricœur, Ideology, and the Politics of Interfaith Understanding

Resumen

L’anthropologie herméneutique de Ricoeur offre un cadre permettant de comprendre les conditions du dialogue interreligieux. Selon sa conception du « moi vulnérable », le dialogue n’est pas une simple possibilité que les individus ont mais bien plutôt quelque chose d’essentiel pour les êtres humains qui sont des créatures dialogiques, ne pouvant parvenir à la compréhension de soi qu’à travers les autres. Cependant, cet article soutient que la réflexion de Ricoeur risque d’universaliser la condition dialogique d’une manière qui ne tient pas pleinement compte de la façon dont les histoires de la colonialité continuent de façonner les rencontres concrètes. En mettant Ricoeur en dialogue avec la philosophie de la libération de Dussel, l’article démontre que le concept universalisé du « moi fracturé » reste ancré dans une généalogie eurocentrique de la subjectivité. La distinction opérée par Dussel entre l’« ego conquiro » et l’« ego cogito » révèle les fondements coloniaux de la modernité et montre comment les sujets s’engagent dans le dialogue dans des conditions historiques inégales. L’article soutient que le dialogue ne peut servir de moyen de transformation mutuelle tant que les asymétries de pouvoir ne sont pas prises en compte.
