Abstract

This article offers a brief, inevitably selective interim assessment of the reception of Ricœur’s work on the east side of the Rhine to date. Confined to a description of the current state of this reception and without claiming to be exhaustive – a goal that cannot be achieved within the available scope anyway – the following reflections aim to address the question of how Ricœur demands philosophical orientation based on what demands to be thought and with regard to the conditio historica of human existence.
