Paul Ricœur and José Ortega y Gasset: A Necessary Dialogue
Configurations of Hermeneutic Phenomenology

In this work, I would like to show the confluence between the philosophies of Paul Ricœur and José Ortega y Gasset. Their philosophies appear to be distinct, but only at first glance. The goal is to demonstrate the convergence between both thinkers. They share the same "soil," a similar "subsoil," and identical "adversaries" (using Ortega's expressions). The opportunity presented by their philosophies allows their intersection to contribute to what has come to be called "hermeneutic phenomenology." From their perspectives, from the joint reading of one with the other, and one through the other, we can better understand what this school of thought is and consider it not only as a theory but also as a possibility for the philosophical task of our time. In this paper, I aim to offer some insights derived from previous work, in which many of these points are explored in greater depth. At the same time, I would like to suggest possible lines of research to the philosophical community. It is, therefore, a work that seeks continuity and further development.
