Etudes Ricoeuriennes/ Ricoeur Studies (ERRS) invites submissions for a special issue devoted to the intersections between hermeneutics and the social sciences. Increased attention has recently been paid to the impact of Paul Ricoeur’s oeuvre, with regard to the domains of social ontology and cognition. This issue hopes to build on the existing debates within the theories of action, social epistemology, and methodology as well by extending them to the important contributions of hermeneutics. Significant questions in this context include but are not limited to the following: What are the implications of hermeneutics for a social ontology? In what way could hermeneutics be applied to contemporary issues in sociology? What are the insights and limitations of the hermeneutical approach as a methodology for the social sciences? In what way does hermeneutics enable us to rethink social change? How could hermeneutics applied to social science disciplines other than sociology (anthropology, psychology, political science, economics ...)? However, papers that explore these issues from the perspective of other philosophers and social thinkers are especially welcomed. The conception of the issue has been to a great extent inspired by the International Conference on Ricoeur Studies ‘New Perspectives on Hermeneutics in the Social Sciences and Practical Philosophy’, held in the Higher School of Economics in Moscow in September 13-16, 2011. We would like to invite submissions from those who gave papers at the conference as well as from other scholars, who are interested in contributing to the issue. This special issue is not a publication of conference proceedings. In addition to papers on the proposed theme, the journal also seeks book reviews of recent works on Ricoeur’s thought or other works associated with perspectives taken up in his work. Book reviews and articles on various topics (to be published under the heading of « Varia ») are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Papers can be submitted in French or English. Papers should not exceed 50,000 characters in length, and citations should follow the Chicago Manual of Style. All papers will be peer-reviewed by at least two evaluators. Submission Instructions: To submit an article, authors must register on the journal website: http://ricoeur.pitt.edu/ojs/index.php/ricoeur/about/submissions#onlineSubmissions . Authors will then follow a quick five-step process to upload their article to the site. Upon receipt, authors will receive email verification. All submissions, after an initial screening for topicality, will be blind-reviewed. To receive full consideration, completed papers should be submitted through the submission process on the journal’s website by March 01, 2012.

APPEL A PROPOSITIONS/CALL FOR PAPERS:
Études Ricoeuriennes/Ricoeur Studies (ERRS)
ERRS4 Hermeneutics and Social Analysis Herméneutique et Analyse Sociale
